# Errors while loading a map

Converting a Lower-Version World (e.g., 1.8) to a Higher Version (e.g., 1.18+)

If you’re trying to load a world from a lower version (for example, 1.8) into a higher version (such as 1.18) and it isn’t working, you’ll need to convert the world. Don’t worry—it’s straightforward.

#### Steps:

1. Place the lower-version world into your singleplayer worlds folder:

   ```
   %appdata% -> .minecraft -> saves
   ```
2. Open Minecraft with the version you want to convert the world to, and join the world in singleplayer.
   * For example, opening the world in Minecraft 1.18 will automatically convert it to 1.18.
3. Once the world has loaded successfully, retrieve it from the `saves` folder and upload it to your server.

**Good to know:** If you encounter any issues, create a support ticket, describe your problem, and provide proof of purchase so we can provide the correct world download for your version.
